Chelan County, Washington Stops Power Supply to Three Mines

Public utilities (PUD) in Chelan County, Wash., said on Monday that the electricity currently used in the three local mines is prone to fire and poses a risk to local residents. The electricity supply to the three “unauthorized” websites has now been cut. In a statement issued on April 2nd, PUD Commissioner Steve McKenna stated that in the future, illegal operators may be required to assume the power of theft and legal penalties that endanger public safety. At the same time, PUD Commissioner Garry Arseneault also stated that the focus of work will be on the rectification of non-compliant mining operations, and will not limit compliance with legal miners.
